The Town of Khaine's Rest
The town of Khaine’s Rest has existed here past anyone’s memory. It grew up around the local inn and tavern, the Golden Rose owned by handall McKlara and his family. The tavern itself is legend to have been her for a thousand years but that is just local folklore. It lies by a river, the river Arn on it eastern edge, which carries traffic from the Red Ports on the other side of the southern mountains to the Barony of Daven and the world to the North. The town is located in an area of rich farmland. To the west and north lies the Tangled Wood, a vast area of primordal forest known to be the home of fey, dire beasts, and centaurs.
The town itself is a neatly arranged collection of split log houses with theri lower sections made of stones brought up from the lakes to the south. The toen seems to be divided into three parts as each family seems to have claimed one part for thier own. The town had consists of 3 families. The MacKlaras, the Motts and the Millers. Each has a long dislike of the other bordering on open hostility. The town consists of 243 people and 48 buildings including those of a new family which live in wagons by the river to south. The Fyschers. The 3 established families dislike the Fyschers for being new and believe them to be thieves and trouble-makers. The Fyshirs are just trying to get along although the younger men are aggressive towards the hostility shown to them.
There is a weekly market as people from the outlying farms and travelling merchants come by each Sunday to sell their wares on the village green. For sale are agricultural produce (grains, fruits, vegetables, etc), dairy (cheese, milk), livestock, prepared foods, wine and ale, and there are also horse-traders, and a sharpener that makes his rounds between the settlments.
